Firstly, a special thank you
to all the lovely folks over on DA who still wished me a happy birthday on her even though I'm not as much on here anymore. I did say I'd pop by from time to time to see how the ole account was doing and I was surprised and pleased to see that there are still few of you on here who still support me. Thank you all so much. You guys are always so awesometastic!
That being said, I hope I can have your support again as I bring this.
For the first 10 cups of coffee I receive, I will draw the lucky donators a free squiggle sketch portrait of a character of their choice!
So a squiggle sketch for a cup of coffee, huh.
♦ How does that work?
Well it’s simple m’friend.
- Inbox me on my MAIN TUMBLR (littlemisssquiggles.tumblr.com) or TWITTER (@Seddochan) saying you will buy me coffee for a portrait sketch of [INSERT CHARACTER]
- Once I’ve answered you and have accepted your request, I’ll then instruct you to go to my ♥Ko-fi Page
- Once you’ve bought me a cup of coffee and I have confirmed your donation, I’ll get to work on your sketch.
♦ How much is that cup of coffee?
$3USD. That’s all.
As the ad says, one cup of coffee= 1 character portrait sketch. If you want more character sketches, you gotta buy me more java for the same $3 price.
I realized that just asking folks to donate to my ko-fi page wasn’t really paying off. So for that, I’m gonna try a different strategy and give you a guys a lil fun incentive.
Now for a limited time, for the first 10 cups of coffee I receive, I will be offering one free request (or commission if you wanna call it that) to the lucky buyers/donators. The request/commission will be a one monochromatic squiggle sketch portrait of a character of your choice in my style; be it from cartoon, anime, movies, games, TV series, etc. (See examples above)
(While I prefer human characters, I don’t mind tackling anthromorphic/ alien/ humanoid characters as well. Portrait dimensions: 640x1100 pixels)
Also as a means of motivating myself to utilize my Ko-Fi, I’ve decided to set a goal for myself. The ultimate goal is to make it to 100 cups of coffee donated on my ko-fi page (hopefully).
This will be ROUND ONE. If successful, I’ll open up another round offering more sketches for 10 more cups of coffee and so I will go until I’ve reached my goal. Sounds reasonably fun, right?
♥ Honesty Hour:
I’m going to be real with you guys about something. It’s very rare when I come asking folks to help support me financially with donations. Unlike other artists who create art for a living, I don’t usually do commissions preferring to keep money out of what I love to do. I draw cause creating and sharing ideas through art is my passion.
It was never really about making money for me. Plus I was a lot more financially secure back then. I had a job back then.
But as of February 2017, I finally quit my job of three years. For those of you who remembered my ‘Honesty Hour’ from 2014, I once ranted about how much I didn’t like my old job due to the poor working conditions and the poor way management used to treat its staff. I suffered a lot of emotional abuse at my last job and this year, I finally decided that enough is enough and left.
Let this be a lesson to anyone going out into the world of work, be it for first time or not; no amount of money is worth it when you work for a business or individual that treats you less than what you are. We are all humans deserving of respect. Our lives, health and feelings matter and just because someone hands us money on a monthly basis which is our main source of income does not give them leverage to abuse, stress out, use and tarnish our fragile reputations all for the sake of the almighty dollar. It’s not worth it and it will only hurt you in the end. Take it from someone who endured that kind of shit for 3 years.
That being said. I’m on my own again. While I am currently working on a small freelance project thanks to a friend from school; that can only do so much. I still need the spare cash to help me get along. Hence the push at Ko-fi donations and the idea of possibly doing full art commissions depending on how things go.
Truth is, I can use the money guys. Whether you wish to donate out of pure generosity or for the chance of a free drawing, it doesn’t matter. I’d REALLY appreciate the help either way. REALLY!
For now I’m just going to leave this open. I haven’t had much luck with my Ko-fi so far (except for one dear ole friend who I’m VERY grateful for) so I’m not sure if this idea will motivate more people to wanna help me. I’ll just leave it to chance.
I hope this idea venture brings me more luck. Here’s to luck and chance and hopefully having coffee with you star kids,
